Screw segments slide easily onto the shafts, as long as they are new and clean. Stripping elements from the shafts, however, can be a real challenge. Product might have penetrated between the elements, or between the elements and shaft. It will certainly solidify on cooling down, and may decompose due to the temperature. A very high force may be required to remove the screw elements from the shaft.
